    Fenner Nature Center

    The Fenner Nature Center is an interactive learning center that offers a variety of seasonal programs in order to promote quality outdoor education to Lansing area residents and schools. Self-guided nature trails, a visitor center with exhibits, gift shop and natural history library are located at the Fenner Nature Center. Various events are also held at the center throughout the year, including the Maple Syrup Festival.

    Fitzgerald Park
    This park is open year-round and offers six picnic areas, three miles of nature trails and a nature center. Fishing is accessible and the park has a volleyball court, a basketball court, two horseshoe pits, a skateboard park and a playground. Golfing, canoeing, sledding, and cross-country skiing are accessible activities in the 78-acre Fitzgerald Park.

    Yankee Springs Recreation Area

    Established in 1835, this recreation area was once the hunting grounds of the Algonquin Indians and the famous Chieftain, Chief Noonday. Outdoor activities include 30 mi (48 km) of hiking trails, 12 mi (19 km) of mountain bike trails and 9 mi (14 km) of horseback trails. This area has two public beaches, picnic shelters and two fishing piers at Gun Lake and Deep Lake.

    Brower Park is located on the big Muskegon River and provides access to over 18 miles of navigable river on the backwaters of the Hardy Dam.
