Established in 1835, this recreation area was once the hunting grounds of the Algonquin Indians and the famous Chieftain, Chief Noonday. Outdoor activities include 30 mi (48 km) of hiking trails, 12 mi (19 km) of mountain bike trails and 9 mi (14 km) of horseback trails. This area has two public beaches, picnic shelters and two fishing piers at Gun Lake and Deep Lake.
